About us

Kavitha

When two of Kavitha’s good friends asked her out for a weekly Yoga session some time back, she simply said yes because that meant more frequent opportunities to hang out with her friends regularly. At the time, she was clueless about Yoga – not even knowing the difference between an asana and a mudra.

Yet, the moment she began her first lesson, she knew, instantly, that there was something there – as if she was being re-introduced to a long lost passion. Although her two friends went on to do other things, Kavitha continued to learn, enjoying the new discoveries and experiences that her Yoga practice brought into her life. That was 10 years ago. Now Kavitha a mother of a toddler, wants nothing more than to live life the Yogic way.

Embracing the peace and calmness of Yoga

Being a yoga mum it is only natural that she embraces natural parenting methods and imparts her yogic wisdom to overcome the daily challenges of life as a new mother.

Kavitha’s yearning to gain the wisdom of Yoga has brought her on numerous occasions to the birthplace of Yoga itself – India. It is there, at the Sivananda Vedanta Ashram in Madurai – that her Guru sent her to complete her training to become a yoga teacher. Upon completion of her training, Kavitha was awarded the title of Yoga Siromani (The Crown Jewel Teacher of Yoga).

Kavitha complements her practice, by reading books on Yogic philosophy and attending talks or satsangs held by visiting yogis. She also travels to India annually to learn new lessons from the Masters there. She follows a dedicated practice routine to keep herself in tune with the principles of Yoga. She knows that the more consistently she practices, the better she will become not only in her Yoga practice, but in all other aspects of her life, and she hopes to be carrying this energy into her classes.

Kavitha has stopped active teaching since moving to Melbourne and having a child in 2010. She is hoping to share her journey as a Yoga Mother through this blog.

See Pei

See Pei was first exposed to Yoga about 7 years ago and since then she has built up a great interest andseepeipicenthusiasm in her Yoga practice. Her search to learn Yoga in a systematic way eventually led her to study under the Yoga tradition which was founded by Swami Sivananda Saraswati from Rishikesh, India. Formerly a full time accountant (holding a double professional degree – ACCA and ICSA certified) in a corporate company, See Pei is used to managing multiple tasks and responsibilities in her field and at the same time balancing that with her passion and love for Yoga.

Her ultimate goal is to explore Yoga more deeply and to share this joy of this journey with all who seek the path of Yoga. She has had 4 years of experience teaching Yoga both on voluntary and commercial basis.

See Pei both attends and conducts various workshops related to health and well-being. This includes topics such as detoxification and cleansing, meditation and relaxation. She has participated in numerous meditation retreats both locally and on international shores. On occasion she also joins Anusara Yoga workshops to improve her understanding in the concepts of a powerful hatha Yoga system that unifies a philosophy of intrinsic goodness with universal principles of alignment.

To See Pei, the greatest joy of teaching is the process of growing and progressing together with her students through the sharing of her experience and knowledge with them. See Pei currently teaches Hatha Yoga. Her experience and passion in this branch of Yoga enables her to accomodate all levels of students with an emphasis on the therapeutic effect of the Asanas.

See Pei  currently conducts the following classes:
- Yoga for Senior Citizens @ Taman Manjalara, Kepong
– Yoga classes at Studios
In addition, See Pei organizes the following retreats:

Dinesh

Not a student. Not an instructor. A yoga dropout who keeps trying to drop back in.

The first time he had his taste of yoga was when he was 7. It was actually a Judo class, but the japanese teacher would make his students do a sequence of yoga asanas every week just to get them flexible and nimble. Of course, he didn’t know if was yoga then. Just thought it was a set of really weird upside down stretches.

Later his sister brought home a book entitled The Complete Guide to Yoga. It was superbly written with a lot of easy to follow instructions and illustrations. Always wanting to jump ahead, Dinesh never did the basics nor did he read anything between page one and the page with instructions on how to do the Headstand. That’s what attracted him, and that’s what he went for. Of course after a few tries, and 100′s of falls, he finally managed to do it. And he’s been doing it ever since.

Later in life, he married a yoga instructor. That’s when he finally took the time to find out the actual essence of yoga. But of course, like most people, he still struggles with doing yoga consistently. That’s not all, he also struggles with a host of other things like:

  • sleeping well
  • striking the right balance between work and home life
  • eating right
  • keeping fit
  • losing weight
  • becoming more spiritual
  • keeping the temper in check

So, if you’re still wondering what this profile is doing on this page, Dinesh is not blogging at yoga-wisdom as a yoga instructor or expert. Instead, his sole purpose here is to write about the chronicles of a yogi wannabe. The guy who keeps trying to get it right, but struggles every step of the way!

Dinesh does not do any classes at the moment. Nor does he organise any retreat or workshop for anyone. But if you know any good ones that he should be attending, do drop him a note.
