What my yoga space looks like now

This is what my make-do practice area looks like these days… I’m lucky enough if I get some time on it as long as my daughter happily plays around with her toys and not climb all over me. But heck, who’s complaining?

Gone are the days when I visualized/had a tranquil yoga space to practise. Definitely far from the definition of the world’s best yoga spots, but you know what? Practice is practice. Instead of feeling sorry about not having the perfect yoga space, I feel thankful that there is still space for my practice at home, in my mind & heart :)

Cleansing & Rejuvenating Workshop

Yoga-Wisdom is finally up and running again! Thanks to See Pei’s recent cleansing & rejuvenating workshop I am motivated to post on this blog again.
After 3 years of research, self experiments and material gathering See Pei was finally ready to conduct this workshop.  I could see how thrilled See Pei’s students were to be able to get their heads into this knowledge after many years of request. [Read more...]

A place to learn Yoga when times are tough

At these recent times of financial difficulties, there is one place who is willing to take a pay cut to ease the financial burden of their customers. Finding it hard to believe?

dlsclasses

In light of the current situation, the Divine Life Society have cut their 3 months Yoga course fees from RM150 to RM120. Now, this is what I call Yoga! Truly compassionate, truly mindful.

My partner See Pei & I,  both started our journey in Yoga with DLS. And  after exploring many other options and places, we are still drawn to DLS classes for the simple reason :

“Teachers are excellent, teachings are purely just on asanas (poses) & pranayama (breathing), classes are regular and punctual, and the price is the cheapest in town”

You too can take advantage of this!

8 Things That Sustain My Interest in Yoga

  1. Seeing so many people around me live a better quality life after taking up Yoga
  2. The great bunch of friends I have come to know in my years of practicing & teaching Yoga. (The same people who have pulled me back into my practice at times when I was struggling.)
  3. The gradual discovery of my body & mind’s true potentials.
  4. Having found the right teacher and right class to practice with.
  5. Great support and interest from my husband, parents & sisters.
  6. All the small opportunities that I get to share my Yoga experiences with the public.
  7. My children Yoga students who thinks Yoga is the coolest thing ever.
  8. God’s grace to put me at the right places, at the right time, pressing all the right buttons, how can I help but to fall madly in love with Yoga

Peace. Peace. Peace.

A Birthday Message

Ever had the experience  of  the universe conspiring to bring you a message? Today is one such day for me.

As I prayed for divine intervention for my Bracelet Yoga practice, I received this beautiful message:

dsc_0944The sun rises everyday.
It never fails in its duty.
It nourishes and sustains all living forms.
We depend upon it’s light and warmth.
Without the sun, all life forms would fail and die. Let Me be the sun in your life.
A sun that rises, but never sets. I will give you the warmth of My love.
I will spread around you the light of My Knowledge.
In your life, there will be only day and no night.
There will be only awakening
And no more ignorance of sleep.
With this energy
You will grow more and more spiritually.
I have come today to be by your side.
To make you recognize God.
To teach you God.
And to realize God.

My Perfect Gift: Bracelet Yoga

This morning I received a “complaint free bracelet” from my husband as a birthday gift, and the gift of living with a complaint free partner for the next 21 days (or maybe more), as he wears one himself too.  Ah… another challenge now, while we are both still in the midst of “No Chocolate for February” challenge!

complaint-free bracelets

Honestly, there can’t be a better gift for a Yoga crazy wife. From the moment the bracelet adorned my wrist, my mind has been on a very aware mode. I have automatically become conscious of every thought and word that comes out from my mouth since this morning.

The aim of a true Yogi, is to come to a state where they have perfect control of the modifications that arise in their minds (in Sanskrit it is called Chittavritti-Nirodha). This simply means that the Yogi doesn’t have to deal with a monkey mind anymore! Imagine the bliss of not having to be weighed down by the restlessness or negativity of your thoughts. [Read more...]

You’ve Worked Hard All Your Life – Now Indulge Yourself

Indulge? And how does Yoga and indulgence go together?

When a class of Yoga students take a break from their routine Asana practice to unwind, maybe?”

Last December, we from the Royal Yoga class took time of from our daily cares and worries to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

What did we do?

  1. We woke up awfully early …
  2. The teacher got us lost in FRIM and deprived us of our morning coffee while waiting for the actual guide to arrive [Read more...]

What’s Not Right with Working More than 40 Hours a Week?

My husband had a very bad fever coupled with a chronic headache the day before. The last few times he had this symptoms I had to rush him to emergency and right enough he was admitted to the hospital on all accounts for very different reasons.

Thankfully this time around it didn’t get that serious. Even though earlier in the day he had seen an in-house doctor at his office, we still took the precaution to go for a second opinion as his headache never subsided.  [Read more...]

Yoga Teachers can be Geniuses too

“You are a Yoga teacher?”

“But your Maths is so good”!

Someone told me this today.

All I did was to do a simple multiplication during a briefing on micro loan policy for the urban poor, just to ensure that the information being presented and the numbers being shown on the brochure tally. Guess he just didn’t expect a Yoga teacher to be doing that! [Read more...]
